After nearly two years of marriage we are thrilled to say that we are finally a part of a small group bible study with other young married couples!  This is something we have desired for a long time but with our Navs and school schedules it has been impossible! We have decided on a church, joined a small group, and Noah.is going to play occasionally on a worship team! These are all things we are very excited about!

The summer bible study with students is continuing to go well.  Each week we have dinner and then discuss a chapter of the study Right of Malachi.  Our campus director Norman Hubbard actually wrote the study, so it is an awesome opportunity to be in a study with the study's author leading it! Tonight we are hosting the meal.  It is interesting trying to prepare for it as some weeks we have had 15 students and other times we have had up to 30 students.  We shall see!

The summer is flying by and we are trying to make the most of it both personally and in regards to our ministry on campus.  We are thankful to the Lord for you!! :)

ps. If you are wondering... in regards to the last post. We did NOT get a paper the next morning.  We got in touch with our carrier and she ended up bringing one over later in the day. Funniest part of the story is when she brought us over a paper, I realized she is our neighbor!! She lives two houses away from us! I think we have the issue resolved once and for all :)

the news of the newspaper

A few weeks ago (June 21 to be exact) we signed for a 3 month subscription to the newspaper.  We figured it would be a fun way to learn more about what is going on in the community throughout the summer when we have more time to explore. We were told our first paper would come by the end of the week.

Friday came= no paper. Saturday=no paper. Sunday= no paper. So on Monday morning we called. They apologized and said we would get one on Tuesday. Tuesday= no paper. We gave them one more day. Wednesday=no paper.  The cycle continues-- we call, they promise paper, we don't get a paper, (repeat x5) By this point it started to get comical. It had been over 2 weeks. We had made more than 6 calls and still no paper.

Last Tuesday we got a call from the newspaper deliverer apologizing and saying he just dropped off a paper and wanted to make sure we got it.  Well, of course we hadn't gotten the paper! BUT we finally found out the problem-- they were delivering our paper to 705 W. Green St. URBANA. And we live on 705 W. Green St. CHAMPAIGN. Never mind the fact that every time we called we told them we live in Champaign. There was a break down in communication.

We finally went to the office on Wednesday and got things figured out. The guy apologized and gave us a credit on our charge and promised a paper.  Less than an hour after we left the guy called just to confirm our address. "705 W. Green St. URBANA?" to which Noah replied "Noooo, Champaign!!!" (Important point for those of you who don't know the area.  Green Street is a major street in town.  And it goes all the way through Champaign and Urbana.  Oddly enough it goes W. Green St (Champaign) E. Green St (Champaign) W. Green St (Urbana) and E. Green St. (Urbana).)

Long story short, we finally got a paper on Thursday and Friday of last week. But then we haven't gotten a paper since.

We called today, and we are supposed to get a paper tomorrow.  Anyone want to make a bet??

cooler air = prayer!

Hello friends!

The temperatures here have calmed down a bit this week.  Deciding to take advantage of the nice conditions, I brought a student named Wes with me, and we walked and prayed around the Ikenberry Commons (commonly known as the Six-Pack), a group of underclassmen dorms on the Illinois campus.

We grew excited as we walked and prayed, anticipating the arrival of 8-9,000 freshmen on campus in August, and asking God to do mighty things in the hearts of those students.

Would you please join us in these prayers?

-Noah
