Noah invited the guys in the ministry to a "ManVenture" this past weekend. All he told them was... Saturday 9/25 Meet at 12:30 pm $20 Be home around midnight Are you in?? Well 16 guys were in! A great day was had by all... A billboard advertising "Foot High Pie" beckoned... and they just had to stop! For our 3rd Anniversary we decided to take dance lessons as are gift to each other! There is a place in town that we have seen advertised in the paper ever since we moved here. Growing up as a Rogers... dancing is NOT an option! Hopefully this will give us a few moves so we can go back to Viennese Ball at UW-Eau Claire some day :)
Tonight was our 3rd lesson. We have a very good instructor and are working on 4 dances : Rumba, Swing, Waltz and Foxtrot. We're having a great time... but don't ask us to show you any moves :) Last weekend we spent a good chunk of time making homemade applesauce, this is one of Noah's absolute FAVORITE foods. His mom gave me the recipe and an apple peeler/corer/slicer as a wedding shower gift. I took the hint :) Here are some picture of our applesauce adventure! Funny thing is... after having a very FALL weekend (applesauce, decorating for fall, cool weather, lots of football) we had three 90* days this past week!!!
This weekend it has gotten cooler and we are back to fall :) We have launched. This week marks the third week of class here at the University of Illinois. Three weeks already? Yes, already. One word to describe the Fall Launch: connections! We're making as many connections as possible and trusting the Lord to lead to us the students He intends to be involved in our ministry. He has connected us with many new students, both Christian students and those who are curious about Christ. Please pray that many of these connections would solidify! Quad Day 2010 was a success. The Lord connected us with many students, whom we and our students have been following up with. (For a picture of what Quad Day looks like, check out this post from last year). During the Fall Launch, we host several events which provide an opportunity for students to connect with each other and our ministry. This year, we decided to try something a little different than the traditional pizza party. Thus, the Exotic Burger Bar was born. 40 students descended upon the Hubbard house, each with a different burger topping. Eclectic culinary mania ensued! As we continue to connect with students, we are beginning to settle into the heart of our ministry. Small groups of students are forming together to dig deep into God's Word. We are beginning to teach and equip our students for service and mission in God's Kingdom. Individuals are beginning or continuing to be trained. And we're praying that God will use us and our students as the Gospel message goes out.
Please pray for a fruitful fall semester! Thanks friends! -Noah |
