Feelin' hot hot hot!

As with everyone in the midwest... we have been enduring, I mean enjoying, some REALLY hot days! We are very thankful that we have central air and have lots of shade trees in our yard!

I feel like we are FINALLY getting into a routine here in Illinois and for that I am very, very thankful! (For those of you who know me well, you understand how difficult it has been these past few months not having any sort of a routine!)  A lot of things that we have been praying for and seeking out since before our move are happening...

Last night Noah found a group of people who play pick-up ultimate on Tuesday nights.  I know he was excited about it because he chose to go play ultimate for two hours last night even though it was 96* +!!

Tonight we are checking out a young couples small group bible study through one of the churches we have been visiting! We are hoping this will be a great way for Noah and I to get connected with some friends!

Tomorrow night we are looking forward to hosting summer bible study at our home. Last week there were nearly 30 students there! (That is bigger than the crowd we had at many Nav Nites during the semester!) As Norman said last week, "This is the biggest small group Bible study I have ever facilitated!"  It makes for a different feel but we are really thankful for the students that God is bringing our way!

Thank you for your prayers- we couldn't be doing this without you!

Long Overdue

This update is long overdue... I will try to keep it short although there is much to say!

We left for WI in the beginning of June for quite the trip!!... we celebrated my grandma and grandpa Rogers 65th Wedding Anniversary (With 71 out of 74 of the relatives in attendance!!) My brother Matt graduated from Platteville High School.  He gave a very inspiring  graduation speech and threw one awesome party!! We spent some time with both of our families in Platteville and in Rice Lake.  We visited Eau Claire and caught up with some dear friends there.  We also attended a wedding of some Nav college friends.  All in all we had a GREAT time!!

On the day we had planned to return to Champaign (6/14) Noah's grandma Dolores died which called for a major change in plans.  The past few days we have spent in Rice Lake making funeral preparations, spending time with relatives and mourning the loss of a truly WONDERFUL woman!

We returned to Champaign late last night totally drained emotionally and physically but really thankful to be back! Champaign welcomed us home with an absolutely WILD thunderstorm at 6:30 am this morning and a REALLY humid day today!

We are so happy that we were able to see tons of our family and friends over the past few weeks. We have thoroughly enjoyed our time with all of you!!

Much Love!

What is the point?!

random story for you...

I had to go to the post office today to pick something up that was there for us... I went to park and saw there were parking meters (MOST places around here you have to pay to park, ugh!) I got out a quarter a dime and a nickel, as I wasn't sure how much this meter was... it seems like they all vary in price around this town.  I laughed out loud when I looked at the meter and it said "penny for 12 minutes" WHAT?!?! I thought it had to be a joke, but there on the side was only ONE slot for coins, and it said 1 cent.  What is the point....

Quite the contrast from the meter we saw in Chicago a few weeks ago... it had a credit card machine to pay for parking as it was $2/hour!
