Thankfully, it didn't go quite like that. And thankfully I did straighten my hair. Who knew how challenging a shower would be after a c-section?! (surgery + having a baby= pain and exhaustion!)
Anyway, this line has been quoted a lot in the last week for two reasons. 1) It's hard to believe that Ellie is my daughter. That she is looking at me and saying "You're my mother!!" and 2) Having my mom stay with us over the past week has proven to me that yes, SHE IS MY MOTHER!! Kind of incredible how much we think and act alike. I can't count how many times I'd start to ask her to do something or get me something, and see she was already in the process of fulfilling my request. It was SUCH a blessing to have her here and so sad to see her leave on Monday. I'd be really sad if I didn't know she was coming back on Friday (with my dad and my brother!) What a sweet Mothers Day it will be!
Life with Ellie has been so wonderful. For the last many months in addition to a healthy baby and a safe delivery, my three main prayer requests were that our daughter would be ...
-a good sleeper
- good natured
-tender-hearted
So far we have two of the three (hard to tell if she is tender-hearted at 9 days old!:) But she is a great sleeper and very good natured (I can't take credit for that one, that's Noah's calllllmmmm temperament coming out! :)) But I will take credit for the sleeping gene. I've always loved my sleep!
I'm beyond words grateful to have the mother that I have and incredibly blessed to be a mother to sweet little Ellie Marie!
Thank you Lord for creating moms!
Happy Mothers Day!
